Heritage Lighting
Heritage lighting is a unique and interesting field in the field of light equipment as it deals soley with the lighting of older structures that have some kind of historical value such as art galleries, churches and cathedrals, castles and tourist attractions, civic structures and museums. The actual type of heritage lights used varies greatly, in some cases external lighting for highly visible structures will be required such as lighting a castle in the middle of a bustling city so it looks attractive and draws the eye at night.
In other cases highly specialised heritage lights will be utilised that are designed to mimic older lights from a certain period of history, such as modern electrically powered imitations of Victorian oil lamps. On occasion genuine older lights from various periods of history will need refurbishing and reconditioning and this job falls to heritage light specialists. This field is both unique and intriguing and has a very wide range of applications.
One unique feature of heritage lighting is that it must be sympathetic to the structure it is designed for. This field of illumination goes hand in hand with the study of architecture and history, it is vital to be able to match up heritage lighting installations with the buildings or structures they are meant to show off in the best possible way whilst still being period accurate. We are confident that if you are looking for a bespoke installation or you are looking to have some old lights restored in a historically authentic fashion you will be able to find exactly what you require on the heritage lighting section of our website.
