Fluorescent Lighting
Fluorescent Lighting is a staple of the light industry and is used to provide bulk lighting for everything form the average domestic kitchen through to clean rooms and assembly labs that require ultra bright, clean light, along with being used to light huge commercial and industrial structures such as factories and supermarkets. Fluorescent lighting relies on a scientific effect known as flourescence.
The long glass tube of most types of fluorescent lighting is created so that it is a partial vacuum containing a very small amount of mercury. By applying an electric current to the tube the mercury atoms emit light that is in the ultraviolet range and is invisible and harmful to most living organisms. The inside of the glass tube is lined with a material known as phosphor that absords the ultraviolet light and emits visible light. Fluorescent lights are responsible for the invention of things such as mercury vampor streetlights and glowsticks, both of which use similar effects to produce light.
Fluorescent lighting has been used for many years as a cheap form of illuminating anything with a large area. It provides a clean, white pure light that cannot be matched by a traditional bulb and is seen everywhere you go from the supermarket to peoples kitchens. Whatever type of fluorescent lighting you are looking for and whatever quantity we are confident that the suppliers in this section of our website will be able to help you out.
